J. Herbin is the oldest ink company in the world. In the 17th century, in his store on Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris, J. Herbin created a collection of inks called "The Jewel of Inks." J.Herbin inks were created especially for King Louis XVI, and Victor Hugo also used them.
